Ahmari Lab aims to understand the underlying neural processes associated with abnormal behaviors related to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). As a practicing psychiatrist, Dr. Susanne Ahmari, MD, PhD, strives to conduct translationally relevant research in mouse models to ultimately work towards better treatments for OCD patients.

In Ahmari Lab we use in vivo optogenetics, behavior, calcium imaging, and electrophysiology in awake behaving mice to investigate the neural underpinnings of behaviors relevant to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. By combining these data with human post-mortem data, we aim to develop a translational understanding of how specific neural circuits play a role in the expression and treatment of OCD and related disorders.
